Projects .......

I have had a few projects on the go recently. I've particularly been procrastinating over making my sister some pillow cases and duvet covers to help her with her 'nesting'! I finally got them finished today, with the help of two little guys - one Mancub who stood at my elbow and copied the noise of the sewing machine (irritating much?). Although you've got to feel sorry for him - he has broken his foot (by poking it in the edges of an escalator no less) and he cannot play outside with the other kids, so I put up with his carry on - just! And then there was this little guy:

 

Isn't he cute? He totally helped me out with the load of fabric I had pinned together.  Ewan bought me him a while ago as a present, it was the perfect time to use him! It's nice to get this project finished!! Hope it all fits!

 

Then on to my next project: coursework. The two humungous piles of the previous post had shrunk to only one this weekend, and got completed yesterday - whoop! Now to get the next installment tomorrow, groan!

 

Catching up with friends has been another project over half term. I had a friend from Uni round with her 4 (yes 4) kids. Was really nice to catch up with them all. The two youngest are the cutest twins ever! A handful, but great fun.

We also got a chance to meet up with the Boyds - who brought some treats to cheer up my wounded  soldier!

 

We've actually been working on being lazy as well round here. For many's a year I was up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday and out at swimming lessons, sports or shopping. But we have taken up the new hobby of pancake eating on a Saturday morning ( and a Sunday if we can manage it).  I like this new hobby, I think it may be one we can keep up indefinitely with not much trouble! Add it to a dollop of DSi playing and we are all happy!

This is the next project I am preparing for:

Week 5 in The Broken Pelvis Debacle!

Well, I am happy to report that the 2 breakages in my pelvis are mostly healed. I can now do the following:

:) Stand unaided

:) Walk unaided

:) Climb into bath instead of swinging legs in off a chair.

:) Carry things down stairs/out of kitchen as my hands are no longer full of crutch/zimmer.

:) Climb into a car one leg at a time (for a while my two legs had to stay together or it was mighty painful - I shy away from using words like ''agony'').

:) Pick up a crying child.

:) Walk without a crazy swaying limp.

:) Shop in actual shops, with actual real life people, instead of online.

:) Sneeze without turning white.

:) Scrapbook comfortably.

and most importantly:

:) Entertain friends!

Love it when these ladies come to visit. I bought these moustaches in prepartaion of silly fun! It so cheered me up for days! Thanks ladies!!

I think this little blip in my life has actually done me quite a lot of good. I have been forced to stop, take a minute, relax and chill out. I was chomping at the bit to get back to work, and I am so grateful to the doctor for telling me off. I have one more week left to go back to bed when the kids leave for school, enjoy some Loose Women nonsense, catch up on boxsets, listen to MTV while reading, collect the kids from school and generally potter about! Whoop!

My New Philosophy!

Have become obsessed with internet shopping over the last two weeks (yes I have been sitting on my butt for that long now & I have the belly to prove it!!). Let me introduce you to some of my purchases:

Firstly, a new mantra for me to live by:

Secondly, as promised my new t-shirt (and meet my trusty zimmer!):

If you can't read what it says - ''Right now I'd rather be skiing''. Aint that the truth! (Isn't it a pity you can't order your roots fixing over the internet!).

Now, there is other small stuff winging it's way to my little corner of Belfast, and then there are things that are at this moment only on my wish list like:

 
''Yeah whatever'' I her you cry - how you gonna walk in those - broken pelvis or not!! Fear not - I'll be dancing in these by the summer (please please please!!).

What plans have you got for the weekend? Me? I think I'll sit on the sofa some more and contemplate life (can you tell I am fed up yet?).

Diary of a bored patient!

So what have I done so far this week?

• Added 10 more friends on facebook (old school friends who I now have time to find)
• Lurked on facebook all day seeing who may pop up to talk to
• Chatted to friends on facebook who are in a similar position to me
• Had some lovely real life visitors, all bringing buns and such gifts to lift my spirits (esp Janine)
• Recieved a lovely gift through the post (my favourite kind of surprise). Thanks Jo!
• Have made 3 internet purchases - only question is how am I gonna get to the door in time for the postman to deliver them? May have to stick a note on front door 'be patient, lady with a zimmer'
• One purchase is of some crazy material to make a cute quilt (once I can put pressure on my foot to use the sewing machine
• Have finished the latest Harlan Coben book 'Long Lost'.
• Have mentally restyled my hair 20 times!
• Have made a list of all the new stash I want that was displayed at CHA.
• Have finally made it into the kitchen on my trusty zimmer
• Have filed and buffed my nails so they are beautiful and shiny
• Have watched Loose Women far too often
• Have cuddled up with the kids on the sofa - doing what I can with them - Maddies hair has had a lot of atention from me & her homework, Cameron has done a lot of colouring on the sofa bed.
• Cuddled up with the cat a lot - although the little skitter keeps trying to get upstairs cos he knows I can't follow him up there - cheeky scamp!

So anyone got any ideas of what else I can do? So far I am not too bored, but this will change! Once the tiredness goes I am gonna be climbing the walls - help!!

Proof I'm Not Skiving.......

As the circle highlights, there is a dodgy shadow (breakage) on the left side where my pelvis is busted. Ouch. Actually much better today as I've got a zimmer frame a la a 90 year old woman and can manoeuver myself about, albeit slowly and on one level!!

Should only be 6weeks till I'm salsa dancing!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Whoops!

Well, how was skiing I hear you cry. Well it was fabulous - I improved my technique and style and controlled my speed so I was not completely terrified the whole time. The school group were all really well behaved but still managed to have great fun. Then, in the last 30minutes of the week, I skiied over some abandoned skiis and went on my face. Cue black eye and broken pelvis!

Now do not feel too sorry for me - I had an amazing experience getting mountain rescued down the mountain in a sleigh- then attached to a snow mobile-being carried to & from a gondola-being loked after by my lovely colleagues-getting a Bulgarian ambulance to the airport -chairlifted onto the airplane, and special assistance all the way home. I discovered that while my positive nature can be challenged, it holds strong and that I have very many friends who all want to help me in whatever way they can!

So, I appreciate not being more badly injured, being young and healthy and hopefully quick to heal, having many books to read and websites to surf, having a lovely husband who wheels me back and forward to the bathroom in our computer chair and puts up with my demands. I'm off to casualty in a while, just waiting for my ambulance to arrive - did you ever hear such nonsense? Hoping to be home again soon - a night in hospital may tip my positivity over the edge!
